If you really wanted to be clever, you could put ads in the Craig's List Wanted section and see if you can get anyone to give you their broken junk. You could also watch the Free section and get stuff to resell that way. I tested each of these sites to see what they would pay for a 16 gig iPhone in various states of crappiness. I suspect that the prices for these types of things fluctuate wildly but my test should give you some idea of what to expect. While I was at it, I tested a few sites to see what they would pay for laptops and such but after a while it became pretty clear that they are really after iPhones (and other phones too possibly) and iPods and gadgets like that. They essentially had no interest at all in ordinary desktop computers. BuyMyTronics.com - In my test they were willing to pay $96 for a bricked iPhone. I think that is pretty good. My Boneyard - I tried several items but I couldn't find anything they would give me money for. Gazelle - They wouldn't give me anything for a bricked iPhone but they would pay $246 for a used one that works. NextWorth - NextWorth was willing to pay $60 for a bricked iPhone. That is probably fair but still it is less than what BuyMyTronics offered. Toshiba Trade-In Center - Don't let the name fool you, you can sell any brand of electronics here. They had no interest in a bricked iPhone but offered $142 for one with moderate wear. Venjuvo - Currently down for repairs. |
